The Role of the Oncologist<\/span><\/h3>

At the moment of cancer diagnosis, the oncologist becomes the patient's main guide in the treatment process. This specialist not only prescribes treatment, but creates an individual treatment plan, tailored to the specific case. It may include drug treatment, radiotherapy or chemotherapy.<\/p>

In some cases, the oncologist may take tissue samples for further testing or perform minor surgical procedures. At each stage of treatment, the oncologist monitors the patient's progress and, if necessary, modifies the therapy to increase its effectiveness.<\/p>

This is a role that requires both medical knowledge and empathy, because patients often need not only physical treatment, but also emotional support.<\/p>

Faster access to treatment: Rapid Oncology Therapy Program<\/span><\/h3>

In 2015, the Ministry of Health introduced the Rapid Oncology Therapy program. The goal of this initiative is to shorten the waiting time for diagnosis and initiation of cancer treatment, providing patients with faster access to care.<\/p>

Those who qualify for the program receive a special DiLO card that allows them to bypass some procedures and quickly be referred to specialists and tests. This approach is of great importance, especially in the case of aggressive cancers, where every moment counts.<\/p>

Thanks to this program, thousands of patients in Poland received a faster diagnosis and started treatment earlier, increasing their chances of recovery.<\/p>
